Swapped a new carrier bearing and replaced the boots on a used PS axle, to replace the new one that made as much noise as the old one I took out did.

I pulled the bearing from the new axle, but I had picked up one of the Febi bearings (like $25), just in case something got messed up with the other.

Man. Axle grease is some sloppy crap. I went through so many pairs of gloves, just because I couldn't touch anything without spreading more grease everywhere.

Axle grease is one of the worst for making a mess. Any heavy grease like that... repacking wheel bearings always makes for a huge mess too. Fortunately not something that's needed on these cars.

Chuck, I need that cool jig for supporting bearings for my press, can you tell me source please?

Two half circles with threaded rods.

Congrats on your fender find!

Managed to get 4 hours in on Shagg harvesting. My pace is slow like molasses, but I’m being kind to myself after Mom’s passing. Got front up in air, driveshafts ready to come out, spindles and new brakes ( calipers hoses, pads rotors, abs sensors) all harvested. Got AC , alternator , starter.
Removed down pipe screws
Loosened motor mounts , back one stripped so will remove at motor.

Passenger shaft stuck in hub

Passenger spindle stuck on ball joint

Unfortunately for the car, my 20 ton press is ready to go in the garage

I have decided to pull the motor and trans in November

Thanks! I just needed to finally commit to getting one. Life kept getting in the way.

As far as the tool goes, it's just a Bearing Splitter/Separator.
Has come in handy on many occasions.

They are very useful for this sort of stuff https://www.harborfreight.com/bearing-s ... 63662.html

Sorry to hear about your mom! Hope you're all doing well.

I used to work for a shop that built liquid nitrogen handling equipment. Because of the extreme low temperature (-320 F), all the pipes had to be stainless steel. Since stainless steel is prone to thread galling, we used Blue Moly thread lubricant. This lube would get everywhere and into the pores of your skin. You tried to be careful what you touched, but still you would get some on you and then it would spread all over you and your clothes.

My first encounter with an ETM today. Didn't removed but just cleaned in place with carb cleaner and a piece of blue shop towel. Car went from Mr Hyde to back Dr Jekyll. Was hating the drive and contemplating it's departure.

Tried unsuccessfully to install new wipers on the 850. I finally decided to do something about the blade lift problem on the driver's side, so I ordered a new arm, and new conventional blades. I like the look of conventional blades on the 850, and I've got beams there now. I ordered a wiper arm puller that should be here tomorrow, but I wanted to get the new blades on now.

The blades I bought I are made by Denso, and I've been happy with them on other vehicles. Unfortunately, no matter how much I tried they would not latch onto the original Volvo, or new aftermarket wiper arms. A note in the Rockauto listings says included adapter required, but the only other adapter included in the package was not for a hook style wiper arm.

Upon reviewing my order, I see that I ordered the "economy" wipers, not the "standard" grade like I've ordered before. I either don't recall why I made that decideion, or maybe I just over looked it. Rockauto is refunding me. They only have "1 remaing" of the "Standard" grade Denso wipers, so I'm looking at Valeo instead. I'd like to try Heyner, but finding them in the US doesn't seem to be easy. It looks like they have a winged wiper, similar to the OEM Volvo wiper blade on my S70.
