What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

There was a good writeup on a good method of flushing the PS fluid, basically engine off with front wheels off the ground and going left to right with the steering wheel slowly with the return line going into a catch bucket and keep the reservoir full. I did it twice on my car and the fluid is crystal clear. Check your fluid requirements, I believe you require Pentosin 202.

I did the same with my partners RDX but found that removing the serpentine belt and putting an electric rachet on the pump nut can force all the old fluid out. We ran it on a low speed while turning the wheel and got the fluid completely clear. Her steering went from tough and noisy on the new pump to smoother than my car

Napa canada has some pentosin at a half decent price. I'll flush the screen when i take out the reservoir. I have a vac based pump which does wonders for that.

It's all back together now and I drove my V70 to work today for the first time since my daughters accident. It looks a little funny with the mismatched front bumper, but it will get painted hopefully soon. Feels good driving that car again, plus it releases our 240 from daily duty

. Good timing of everything because that car will be back in the garage for the winter soon.

I accepted the fact that I need to change the alternator in my S60. Groaning like a pig and still occasionally get battery light on dash.

Touched up the rustproofing job done earlier in the month, ensured i had full coverage. The previous stuff stuck on well and distributed/crept into different areas.

The 2nd fuel tank door hinge repair failed in a month. Is anyone out there who has used rivets to fasten hinge to the body?

I used fasteners. If your door pops open leave it alone unlike the zip tie and shrink wrap I tried to improve it with. Everything still working fine however.

(EDIT) Keep in mind this will no longer be a break away which Volvo intended the door hinge to function. Will have both door and body damage if caught on something.
