Hose with white protective wrap? 2006 XC90 v8

Post by paz5050 »

Investigating an occasional gas smell in the cabin and minor sluggishness. Noticed a hose that's not connected to anything

I see another similar hose beneath the starter but can't tell where its coming or going to without disassembly.

What hose is this and where is it supposed to connect to?

Is it damaged?

Thank you

Sorry, just saw this. Hard to locate off the cuff, had to go back into some reference photos.

Guess it's a breather, probably for the transmission.

I agree, it's a breather for the transmission. Mine just kind of flops around in the vicinity.

Thanks for the pic. So if I'm seeing that correctly, yours is floating in space, not connected to anything too?

There is what appears to be a spring loaded valve on the end, and it comes from down near the transmission area so that lends to the idea its a trans breather hose.
