Thanks Neil, Maybe I'll get a nice day this weekend to do it. I'm thinking if I remove the headlight it might be easier to figure out what goes where.scot850 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2023, 17:20 It will likely be a broken diaphragm in one of the headlight one way valves. Usually, the one on the right behind the right headlight wiper as you have found. It is a bit of a phaff to fish out from just out of sight on the RH wiper side. Short term, you could remove the pipe upstream of the valve and just tie a knot in it as any who remove the arms altogether when the motors fail.

I have wanted to create a special seat for when Im driving with the Logitech g27 on my gaming computer. I finished putting together this doohicky thingy yesterday. It is the best seat you can find in a 960/90 model. This one is not hard at all compared to many of the weathered ones out there; quite soft on the contrary. Im thinking about doing the same thing with one of the other Volvo seats I have sitting around (89 764 burgundy FR, 05 s60 2.5T black FL (former T5 trim)). I already have a bare seat (04 s80 T6 black FR) sitting up on 2 cement blocks on my front porch. And I have to get another grey/black 960/90 model leather seat to replace the FR cushion and FL backrest in my Honda.

That looks like a really nice seat. I thought I might do that with a Semi-seat. They come up for sale fairly often but they are pricey. $500-750 US, but they have sprung versions which are really comfy. A whole lot cheaper than what we paid for a pair of hugely over-priced Lay-Z-boy recliners, which look like they were made by and apprentice in there first week.

Made the mistake and went to the junkyard again. Only went to try to ID parts I have like clips and screws or small plastic parts for their locations.
Naturally I picked up a few parts I didn't need, but the car is pretty stripped and is in the next row to be crushed (the other car had already been crushed this morning). What was the shocker is that they have really jacked the prices hugely! We used to pay $20 CDN ($15 US) for a single CD radio, and $30 for a multi-CD radio unit. All radios are $39 and they have added the additional 'core' tax.
There were a pair of what looked like fairly new rear coated rotors on the car. My buddy asked me to get those for him, again, they used to be $15 each, now they are $22 + $3 core charge. Why a 'core charge' on a rotor??
The whole junkyard fun has started to wane for me as the prices are getting way too high. I can buy a new set of ATE rears coated for $32 Cdn from Rock Auto. Sure there is shipping, but there is also a warranty and no core charge!!
The only worthwhile thing was I have now ID'd a bunch of screws and small items which makes cataloguing more parts a lot easier!

Yeah, $25 for a used rotor is ridiculous. I've never understood the core charge on stuff like that, as it's way more than its value in scrap, even at $3.scot850 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2023, 19:51 Made the mistake and went to the junkyard again. Core charges At junkyards make no sense. Pricing has gone through the roof as the industry is getting taken over by consolidators in the US

Well the good thing is I will be buying a lot less, and maybe give me time to get rid of some of the stuff I have. Several parts are now at the price where is new is available, it makes no sense to drive to the junkyard and pull stuff. Now in the yards defense, the cost of junk cars has sky rocketed as less vehicles are being junked due to the price of used and new cars up here. and the higher interest rates.

hi all you lot would hate the uk breakers then, every time i need used parts i now buy mine from germany as lots have a guarantee and price is loads cheaper i.e. i bought a used abs pump for my 94 855 from germany for £150 with 3 month warranty when quotes from uk breakers where ludicrous £440 + carriage with zero warranty! same when i needed a steel type road wheel over £100 in uk and less than £40 from germany inc carriage, makes no sense as someone said theres often new parts cheaper than used,i been looking for a whole car for breaking myself and not seen a suitable candidate in 3 years.
i worry one day it will be a bit i cant buy anymore that kills this car, used to be loads of breakers around this area now theres maybe 3 local and none keep anything that old! good luck all.
