Changing struts will have zero effect on ride height unless the spring perch is mounted differently, i.e. unless you purposely buy a non-standard strut. Ride height is entirely determined by the coil springs (and the location of the spring perch on the strut).
I totally agree with you but being the new gas struts are fully charged it will increase the height slightly. This especially after the springs have been decompressed. It will take sometime for the car to resettle but then it won't be back to where it was.

I need some tires on the R... might have some good deals in that size too, I hope!

Spoke with the local Walmart tire associate. Pretty well informed and helpful. Mine will be delivered via FedEx this Friday and hoping to have them installed at Discount Tire Sat at $88 for installation and balance plus perhaps around $100 or so for their full replacement warranty on all four tires. Unfortunately, the Good Years are specific to Walmart as with Douglas tires made by Good Year. I remember the Douglas name I think from the 90's.

The associate thinks the sale will end this Saturday.

I'm confused, How are you buying tires, from Walmart, having them installed at Discount, and getting a full replacement warranty?

When you purchase tires from Walmart Online it's either available at the store for pickup, scheduled for installation or shipped to your home. You don't have to install with them. Walmart Online sells many tires but also sell tires from Priority Tires an online tire wholesaler.

Discount tire charges $22 for mounting and lifetime balancing per tire regardless where it was purchased. You can also buy their Road Hazard Warranty on tires purchased elsewhere. Cost is according to the price of the tire replacement on equivalent so can be around under $100 and up for 4 tires. Even if your tire is evenly worn with good DOT Dates and can balance you can purchase the RHW.

Their warranty is full replacement and not pro-rated as with Costco. Costco is trying to keep business and now offers free installation and free pro-rated Road Hazard Warranty but Discount will match everything except their Road Hazard Warranty which you have to pay extra for.

I had no idea Discount would sell a road hazard warranty for tires purchased elsewhere.

Were your tires purchased from one of the other tire sellers on Walmart.com? Last I checked, Walmart's website indicated they would mount the tires purchased from them for $15/tire or $25/tires which included road hazard. I didn't know that until after I bought some truck tires through them. They wanted to charge me $25 just for mounting/balancing, even though I purchased the tires from them, not another seller. I had them mounted at Discount because of that.

Walmart and Costco are requiring more and more info and looking at the cars more thoroughly before they honor their warranty. Things includes tire wear, rotation and alignment. It is reasonable to do so but also a hassle besides Walmart may have a pro-rated warranty rather than a free full replacement.

I purchased a car at auction and the car had a blow out from running up a curb and bending all struts, shocks and two rear control arms. The Continentals were exclusive to Discount. Discount in checking the VIN showed the previous owner had purchased the Road Hazard so Discount transferred the warranty to me at no charge and replaced the curb cut tire for free. All tires had very little wear on them. Not too long after ran over a large screw on the side wall so they replace it again and I just had to pay another $25 for a new warranty with the new tire and no charge for mounting and balancing.

Normally mount and lifetime balance is $22 per tire at Discount. You then purchase the Road Hazard which is a full replacement up till the usable life of the tire. Cost for the RHW depends on the tire. I just had Discount price match a set which was $31 a tire cheaper at Walmart so no need to buy and bring to them.

The 205/55/16 Goodyear to be delivered Friday for another car is sold from Walmart not Priority Tire. Will set up the installation for Saturday and purchase the Road Hazard at the same time with Discount. Still cheaper than comparing a similar tire as the Goodyear is exclusively made for Walmart. Even if the tire is a bit more it's easier to work with Discount. Spoke with a tire tech last night on the set they price matched and they are well trained. If there are issues it will be the conscientiousness of the worker. The woman at the counter had been with Discount for 5 years including working in the back busting tires.

Lastly, when you bring a tire already mounted say like on a new car. You can buy the Road Hazard and it includes a lifetime balance  ! NO KIDDING!

When taking the 850 to car shows it’s always a problem trying to hide tools, cleaning products, spare bulbs etc. when the car is on display. I managed to find a genuine NOS CD cover, the type that was fitted to cars with 6 disc players in the boot and it arrived today. I cut a piece of plywood and screwed it to the bottom of the unit and fitted it into the car.

Did a compression test today and not quite sure how to feel about it.

Recently got a 1997 T-5, did the PCV but still fails the glove test, likely because the lower channel could not be cleared from above and I need to drop the pan (FCP euro oil pan gasket kit I'm guessing?).

Following forum advice I did a compression test. Hot engine, if taking an hour to get everything undone counts as a hot engine still. 1-2,4-5 read at 155-160 dry and I did not see the need to test wet.

#3 however was at about 130-135, only a marginal increase wet, maybe the width of the needle. I'm assuming this means some sort of valve issue, either faces or seals. First off, is this low enough to be a major concern, and is there a proper way to diagnose? If it's as simple as the stem seals on that cylinder I might prioritize it. From what I understand this is likely also related to the high crankcase pressure yes?

My gut feel from other cars says this isn't a major concern, just wait until there's spare cash or another reason to pull the head, and there's a long shot that an Italian tuneup might clear up carbon and fix it

No CEL.

The higher priorities for me at the moment, and correct me if I'm wrong, in this rough order:
Addressing an oil cooler hose leak (cooler delete?)
Dropping the oil pan to clear the bottom PCV channel.
Fixing A/C Compressor rapid on/off (magnetic clutch re-shim?)

Still really happy I got one of these while I still can, and I'm looking forward to keeping it for life.
