2002 V70 - urgent engine service and loose wire

Hello,

Have a 2002 V70 (203k miles). Was running great when the 'check engine' light came on with a message for urgent service required.

I opened the hood and saw the wire at the right in the yellow circle had popped out (the left one was intact). This unit is just in front of the fuse box.

Any idea if this could be the problem, or any other suggestion?

Would also appreciate any thoughts on keeping this car. Ran dependently for ~19 years, but in the last year have had twice to replace ignition coils, fuel pump (started leaking), and now this new problem (just put in a new battery).

That’s a small vacuum hose, and it might cause the service engine message, but you need to read codes to learn what’s triggering it for sure.

These cars after 98 don't like old batteries or ones with a low charge. From what you have listed, I would not throw the car out yet. Both things are probably age related, but then that is minor for a 21-22 year old car.

+ 1 with Abscate on buying a cheap glove box stored code reader. Helps to narrow issues down more quickly.
