oem calls for 3 prong Volvo 8642660, Spark Plug
single prong made the car run like crap although recommended by oreillys.
They dont carry a 3 prong today but have 4 prong, and was wondering what the difference is between the 4 prong and the 3 prong spark plugs. And does platimum vs copper make a difference?

Put some Bosch iridiums or NGK iridiums and call it a day. Do NOT PUT IN random off brand ones, cars are sensitive to that and we have had past members have issues with weird brands such as E3. Stick to BOSCH iridiums (ran this in my 98 v70, i think its a near identical engine to yours) or NGK iridiums (currently run this in my 08 S60 2.5T) and you should not have issues.
Stay away from platinum.
Copper is the OEM spec so they do work, just shorter change intervals.
Iridiums are like a 50k km or 70k km change intervals from what i remember on my old wagon.

The Volvo N/A engines were designed for fully exposed spark ignition, My BMW shares the same plug.
They require OEM plugs
I'm sharing this because I run Volvo N/A engines and I've been through the E3 and any other plug experience, it's really frustrating.
Really nice when you find the one that works.
cheers
