Cold Concrete & Your Back

I have a 2' x 4' sheet of this left over from some work. It saved your back and side from the damp cold concrete in winter and summer. When you're young it's not a problem but overtime

. This does snap if the surface is not flat though the thicker ones are hardier. I put this on top or the bottom of a moving blanket. Helps with the knees also. The 2" is ideal and a worthwhile expense.

If I used that I’d hit my nose on the muffler. Maybe taller jackstands...

Actually this is a good idea. I have sometimes used a big sheet of cardboard or those surplus hospital surgical tarps.

I have a piece of very thick carpet that I use every once in a while, for cleaner jobs. Normally, I use a piece of cheap linoleum/vinyl flooring. It's nice because I can easily clean it. It's not nice because it always wants to stay rolled up. I have to weight it down with rocks, and it's also starting to have pieces fall off. Once in a while, I'll use a cardboard box.

With so much moving going on , I have moving blankets everywhere, which are great for car work.

I’m usually using them to keep cool as much as warm, but I’m a polar bear. Long Island is great for car work in winter, a nice 40-50F

Lately , though, my car problems have involved putting gas in the tank.

I seem to have a lifetime cardboard creeper supply deal with Amazon. My wife may have arranged that.

I keep a supply of large area cardboard onhand at all times. I also have 3 pieces of some high-density foam sheets that I acquired from some packaging that I use as cushioning or mats, depending on what I'm doing. I've got a lot of miles and abuse on my 55-year-old knees.

Somewhere I have a foam kneeling pad that helps for knees. I also used it for a roofing job as a butt pad to cushion my hip while sitting on the roof.

My supply comes from Costco's detergent section. The ones that are layered between the products for stability during shipping are pallet sized 40" X 48". I just fold them and tuck them under the shopping cart and hopefully they don't slide out once or twice during my Costco run. Knees and lower back for me.
