My Haynes 240 manual does not refer to a crank position sensor, but there may be one. I have never had this problem with any of my 240s.
I would start checking grounds of the injectors and the control module. Also look for any crumbling wires in the wire harness. Bad insulation is a common problem of these years on 240s.

Bentley Publishers manual also does not mention a crank position sensor, but says computer gets speed signal from ignition to determine how long to spray fuel. This paper manual is very detailed and can still be purchased online last I checked.
