It looks like the lower end has 2 wedged ends that hook into the 'trumpet' end of the connector. The other end just looks like it clamps around the pipe. Not seen this on a Volvo before, but 01-04 C70's are not something I have worked on.
Thanks for the info.
Neil.

I didn't have one on my 2000 S70 Turbo but I was at the junk yard and saw one on a 2000 S70 NA so I grabbed it and put it on mine. Looks important anyway.

My 2000 V70 Mk1 B5244S doesn't have it either, but 2001 V70 Mk2 B5244S doesjmartin919 wrote: ↑03 Oct 2023, 17:29 I didn't have one on my 2000 S70 Turbo but I was at the junk yard and saw one on a 2000 S70 NA so I grabbed it and put it on mine. Looks important anyway.
Hi everyone,
I'm preparing to do this on my 99 V70 with engine: B5254S.
I didn't see anything mentioned on this write up about it, but other threads have made mention of a banjo bolt and how difficult it is. Where is this bolt located?
Second, I have read on multiple threads of people using 5/8'' heater hose instead for better crankcase flow. Is there truth to this?
This is my first volvo and ive never done a replacement this involved yet so I definitely don't want to complicate. Just tying to get a clear image before starting this

Welcome !
I'd say that you should just use the PCV hoses that come with the kit. No reason to use larger diameter hose unless you have major blow-by issues. And I wouldn't use heater hose in that application regardless. It will break down over time. Use silicone hose for that sort of stuff.
Can't help regarding the banjo bolt.

There are two. Item "D" in the diagram. The difficult one is the one on the intake manifold, because there is an alternator directly below it that is in the way.
It's blowby

There are a couple of ways to trick the under intake manifold banjo bolt installation.
It’s made difficult by the two copper washers you have to keep on it , and the hose has tension on it, and it’s an odd angle which is hard to get started ..these three things and the alternator conspire to make the CarDevil giggle with joy,
Removing the alternator ( and sending it out for rebuild) makes it a lot easier.
I usually install the banjo loosely on the intake manifold before I put the IM in place , then install the hoses onto the PCV hose onto the PCV box and clamp that next, then the water hose to the thermostat housing last
