Accelration issues

Well I found out that they are not going to honor my warranty even though I only have about 100 miles on the fuel pump. This is rediculous. Anybody know of a straight company that has 850 fuel pump for cheap? If I have to I'll take the pump from my Integra and make it fit. And now that I told them I want all the info so I can return the pump to Walboro because they have a warranty. I am on the phone with them as we speak. Oh and now she is telling me that her PC is messed up so they will have to call me back. I hate this.

I FIXED IT!!!!! I am so extatic about it. I pulled the pumped again to try and figure out why it was doing what it did. While doing so I noticed that the waires on the fuel pump housing unit were corroded. But I was more focused on other things. Then I figured out that the tube that came with the fuel pump was desentigrating. While the inner tube was still in tact the outer layers were almost gone, leaving the tube to be stretchy. While pulling out the pump I accedentaly pulled off the power wire from the housing unit. Contemplating whether or not I was going to spend $300 on a new one or not I decided to try and soder it. I made two new wires (10 for the power and 12 for the negative) and my grandfather was kind enough to teach me to soder it on (I wish I would have know it was so easy, I braze all ther time). So I put the whole pump back together and went to slide it in. It wouldn't go, So I pulled it back out and realized that the pump was sticking out to far and was hitting the bottom of the tank. I adjusted it, installed it and crossed my fingers. I jumped in and started it. Sounded okay bounced a bit but I need to reset the ECU anyway. So I took it around the block and not one issue. So I got brave and took off down the freeway. Awesome, it works just awesome.

It could have been, according to my logic, one the two issue. First the power and negative wire were so corroded and the power came off kind of easy. So maybe under the acceleration the wire was vibrating to much or just wasn't able to pull enough current through to the pump. Second because the fuel pump was kind low, perhaps under the high suction required the pump was acctualy sucking down to the floor of the tank causing it to limit fuel.

Sorry for the long post but I thought you guys deserved to know in case you ever come across the same issue. But I do have another issue. In another thread on here someone said something about smoke out of the engine oil tube. What does this mean as I have the same thing. Thanks again guys, your the greatest.

Glad you got it fixed...now to take it to the guy who sold it to you, just to show him!

The smoke out of the dipstick tube most likely means that your PCV system is clogged- something you'll need to check out the repair database on what this entails when you replace the system. On your car, being a '93, non-turbo, things will be somewhat different, but generally you have to take off the intake manifold and replace the oil trap along with all of the small vacuum tubes which are part of the PCV system in the car. Without doing this, you build up positive pressure in your engine which will eventually take out your engine seals (big one being the rear main seal- a real pain and lots of $$ if you pay someone to do it).

Well before I let my wife drive it with my kids inside, I decided I was going to run it for a while. I took it to work last night. On the way there it ran great. Then when I was on my way home I punched the gas, and it did it again. Not anywhere near as bad. It's still drivable, but I'm gonna have to make adjustments to the pump and housing again. So this confirms that if you fuel pump sticks out to long that it could be the solution to this probelm.
