Been a long time since I did this. All I remembered was it was a royal PITA! one of the family dropped one of the repaired keys from about 6 years ago which broke the casing. Bought one from Amazon as the EBay one never turned up.
I loosely assembled the key end (I didn't need the button section). I swapped the ship over and tested it worked before gluing the parts together.
The hardest part is pre-loading the key spring while trying the key flip button down and stopping it all exploding. Having at least 3 hands would help with this! I did not glue the parts until testing the key and transponder chip would start the car. Having done so, I glued the parts together. Naturally, then the previously nicely sprung key no long flips out without help. Damn, blast, blankety heck!
I think my mistake was introducing the wavy spring washer under the key. This was from one of the original fobs. I did this as the previous fob casing allowed the key to wobble around which I also think may have been part of the reason the case broke.
I can get the key out but need to help it lock in place. Not really an issue as it is a back up (3rd) fob.
My question : How many turns of the button key do you use when assembling the key? I think I used around 1/2 - 3/4 of an additional rotation, and this gave a nice crisp click open until I glued the case firmly together. I am fairly certain if I did not use the wavy brass washer or gave it more tension it would be ok. So I would suggest using 1 full rotation if you are able to do so.
Neil.

I think I put the cover on lightly then turn it. Took a few tries but did get it.
