Brake Light issue with 07 S60

Post by neworleans »

Hello all,

I am having a brake light issue and still couldn't find the issue.
The issue is the left and right brake lights don't work at all, the LED on the rear windshield lights up along with the cargo area lights so I am thinking that it lights up for safety purposes only since there is an issue with it so the LED also doesn't function.
Also "Check stop lights" message is on the dash.
Here is what I've gone through so far. I also have a 07 S60R and used its parts to check.
Scanned it with VIDA and got the code CEM-8D01 Brake Light signal too low.
The bulbs are good, fuses on REM and CEM are good. #2 on REM for brake lights #9 on CEM Brake switch feed.
REM is also good, checked with R's
The brake switch on the pedal is good, Also swapped with R's switch.
Looked at the wires and didn't see anything wrong with them.

What else can I check? I have the wiring diagram attached.
Thank you very much in advance for any inputs.

My kids 02 S60 had same issue and it was the relay for the brakes located on the panel in the trunk.

I had the same issue on my 2003. Finally found there are actually TWO fuses involved in the REM. Make sure you’ve got the correct wiring diagram for your year.

I don't think that it is a fuse, because every time when i start the car the lights will come on when i press the brake pedal they would go out right away and display a message for dead bulbs on the cluster. I am starting to think that it might be the CEM or Rem. I am getting a code in CEM-08D01.
