Hi,
I need help troubleshooting electrical problems. My car is a 2009 volvo s40 2.4i with 114,000 mi. I lost power steering on friday 12/16 & the battery drained out a bit over night. My dad was able to jump it this morning & got it to the mechanic. The battery was replaced & it worked fine.
But, as I was pulling out an alley parking spot around 5pm. The car said power system service urgent with a red triangle & the battery symbol on. It was like that for about 5-10 mins I think before it turned off. I’m going to get the voltage read tomorrow at pep boys before i try to take it back to the mechanic for another look.
Am I right to worry or does it need time to adjust to the fresh battery?
Thank you for your help

Make sure you don't have a parasitic draw. Perform a parasitic draw test. Your car does not need time to adjust to a new battery.
