Lane Depart and Driver Alert repair

Hi folks. Greetings from Toronto Canada. I have a 2015 XC 70 with 142000 km.

A recent problem is that the both the Lane Depart Warning and Driver Alert function no longer work.

Had two different Volvo Dealer Service departments review and both essentially assessed the problem as being the Functional Safety Management (FSM) heating element is detached from the front windshield. Proposed remedy is to first replace windshield ($1200 CDN) before further diagnosis. Once windshield is replaced, if warning message returns may need to replace FSM ($1700 CDN).

While these are nice to have safety features, not sure they are worth this amount of money. Any opinions, feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated.
