Update:
My planned trip of 1600 miles went perfectly. A funeral just after the new year added another 800 miles to my trip. I have ended up with nearly 4000 miles on the car 6 weeks. The car ran great. I averaged 25 MPG. My wife and daughter appreciated the comfort, and the room. I learned a lot about the car, and have a list of new things to do once the weather warms up:
- The brakes started squeaking on the trip. I'll replace whatever needs done there
- Clunking sound out of passenger front when reversing out of a parking space...I'm guessing CV joint replacement?
- The upholstery is brittle and took some abuse. Passenger seat has a couple holes poked in it. I need to find quality seat covers.
- Suspension work I'm aware of from before the trip needs to be done, too.

Reach out to the Iowa crowd and see if someone is nearby enough to give a helping hand with that front suspension. You can do this yourself, particularly if you can walk to work, like me ( for me it’s walk to the train) post up your location in the great Potato State
You already got $2000 of value in travel from that car, well done. Time for a synthetic oil change!
If it does break, wait four days and it will fix itself, too.
