Looked at that messy seeping power steering fluid reservoir for the umpteenth time, and said "we should replace that"...for the umpteenth time.

Soon you graduate to buying the part, putting it in the shelf, and doing the same.

I've watched a few Youtube videos on these things. I'm considering one for next year.... too cold to install one now, and the garage isn't clean enough any way.jonesg wrote: ↑29 Nov 2023, 15:54 kerosine/diesel heater for the garage, it uses a 12v battery for the combustion and fan, really puts good heat out.
normally i don't touch the volvo until winter is over, 5 months from now.
it sounds like a turbine jet spooling up.
highly recommend for freezing garages, $99 amazon.

i watched those same videos too, measured my pipe at 2 3/8th, so I bought 2 1/2 " ,
it doesn't matter if it doesn't slip fit as I'm welding it in.
the ends on the flex pipe are softer aluminized steel, unlike the stock volvo pipe its very easy to expand with pliers.

i rotate the door panel so its upside down, its much easier to unplug the door connectors when you can see them.
once i started to break the blue slider blocks they kept breaking because the actuator arms were bent..
a new actuator was around $60, swap the motor into the new one to save money, you just need 4 large steel rivets.

Dorman makes decent actuator arm replacements, with and without motors. You can also use short bolts to replace the rivets and make the next change easier.

Interesting - the arms could be bent. Hmm.. They are pretty flexible sheet metal.

The evolution of this pattern of behavior is buy the part, put in on the shelf, forget you have the part, buy the part again....
