Now that the suspension clunks are gone I think I need to address my spare tire and jack. I can't figure out how they stay secure. I can't tell if I'm missing something or if I just need to pad the whole area.

Tried posting this earlier this week for you but as I was in a foreign country my message was rejected with a note saying I was posting from a banned IP address... Guess The Canary Islands are out of bounds for MVS guys...

Anyways here is how to fit the spare wheel into a P80

Mounting it the proper way makes a BIG difference for noise and organization. The first time I figured out how to do it right I was amazed lol.

Is that a full size wheel and tire?

Is that not the original tire size before we changed over to the Volvo US 205/55/16 tire as the standard? I'm thinking that extra diameter may be just enough not to fit.

And you need the grey foam donut to level the floor, too. I manage to sneak in an air compressor, jumper cables , and a wood block for jack safety too

Found these bad boys in the shop and slapped them in. Took about 3h some drilling and some zip ties.

Grabbed my "extra" Eros wheel (I have another full set for my 240) and one of the Nokians saved from my wife's wheels and tossed together a full-sized spare for the T5.



Does it fit in the wheel? Not really, but the loss of a little bit of trunk room due to the raised floor isn't really a big deal for me in this car.

While I was in there, I realized that at some point I'd stuck a 17" space saver in there.


I don't remember grabbing it, but it must've been when I had the Neptunes on the car. Pretty sure it didn't come from a P2R (probably an XC90) and won't clear the P2R brakes anyway, but I'll give it a check the next time I have a front wheel off.

It would probably work well to put some little spacers under the corners of the load floor to level it out to fit the full size spare. Like some small wood blocks or something.

Having sorted all my buddies spares (well the ones he has dropped off so far!!), identified, documented, found prices for new parts (many are new in boxes), I have sent him the info so he can decide on what he wants to sell them for. 240-960 4 cylinder block heater anyone??

Next on the list was to clean and replace some bulbs in his SC-816 head unit. He has a spare SC-815 he is using just now, but that is next on the list as the CD spits the discs out. Hopefully just needs a good clean including the laser!

2 bulbs replaced, cassette head and rubber wheels cleaned (they were really dirty!!) as well as the CD laser. Cleaned the face, LCD screen and buttons, then tested the unit again on the test system and all is good. Job done!

Thanks for the pics. I'll need to track down the installation ahrdware as well as the tools. Hopefully there's some available around here.
