Which serial number is for the s/w?

Post by UCrazyKid »

Hi,
My DDM in my 2004 XC70 has stopped controlling ONLY the drivers door window, mirror, and door lock. All other features are still working. I have checked the wiring, I have removed the module, cleaned it, inspected for broken traces/solder joints, etc and nothing seems amiss. I believe I need to replace the unit. My first hope is to find one on eBay or at a breaker yard that has the same s/w instead of having to get a new one and get it programmed.
Can some one tell me which number/code on this label refers to the s/w version? I already know the part number is a different sticker on the module. Thanks!

Andy

In my opinion the sw version is only available via CAN aka VIDA reading of the SW modules.

I second Dikidera's opinion as the Volvo firmware in the DDM could have been upgraded at some point.
Get a DiCE + VIDA setup going and read the version information of that module.
You're lucky in that your module is alive (and that module might not be the culprit after all, it could be wiring).

The DDM (PDM) has two connectors: green (A) for CAN and low current and black (B) for high-current (i.e. motors).
All the functions that you list go through the B connector so that might be worth double-checking (check the PCB solder points).
Most if not all these functions go through an ST L9949 driver chip (https://www.st.com/en/automotive-analog ... l9949.html).

I located a 2004 XC90 at a local breaker. I had them pull the drivers master switch, swapped them in the parking lot and it fixed all my problems. The switch cost me $55. Problem solved. No software markings or label of the replacement unit. I did not check with VIDA, just happy it is now working.
