There are way too many artists who don’t retire gracefully and think they are still in their heyday…
Billy Joel for example.
When you think you have everything in life to make life good, you'll forget what is really needed to make life good and function.
Metabolic Syndrome was top on my mind. Can have MS for years before the damage kicks in. Ask me how I know as I begin my 3rd year without insulin and no Metformin even though this runs on Dad's side of the family. Was able to get Dad off his Metformin after using it for probably 20 years. I have no penchant for alcohol but not against it even on a daily basis for health. Chinese medicine and even Biblical medicine allows for it. Even the Queen of England had her daily drinks.

In his 2016 autobiography, Collins acknowledged that he had struggled with alcoholism following his retirement and third divorce. At that point he also stated that he had been sober for three years.[278]
In January 2017, Collins said he was a type 2 diabetic and had received treatment with a hyperbaric chamber after developing a diabetic abscess on his foot that became infected.
