Help - VIDA (VM install) + VXDIAG tool

Post by Rawhide »

Hi all, I've recently bought a new V70 T5 and whilst I had a V70 before I do need VIDA to work through some issues.

I'm relatively tech savy, but new to the world of VIDA DICE etc..

I bought a VIDA 2014D Virtual Machine image from this site - https://volvodiag.com/virtualmachine-image/

I bought a VXDIAG VCX NANO from Ali Express as a suggestion from this page - https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... HBdsZa/pub

I first put the VM on a Windows 10 PC, but had some issues, I've since put it on an Ubuntu machine as I assume this might be cleaner.

Both builds are working and I've been able to sort the USB connectivity out.

VIDA is running ok on the VM, and it can see the VXDIAG tool ok. However these are my issues;

1) The car cannot be autodetected. When I enter the VIN I am able to progress and I know there is some car connectivity as the ABS light is flashing etc, and I hear clicking of modules etc.

2) VIDA cannot connect to any of the modules.

I am suspecting this is some sort of licence issue. Whilst my install is a VM I was somewhat refering to this guide https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... HBdsZa/pub but I'm failing at step 11.

Using VX Manager when I click 'Update Licence' I get a message "The license is invalid, please update or contact the dealer to confirm this is a valid device"

What I'm looking for is a step by step guide on how to get this combination of hardware and VM to work.

Any help really welcome!!

SUCCESS!! I managed to get this working.

My solution was to download the drivers from this page https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... HBdsZa/pub
for VX Manager.exe. I had been downloading the same file from the manufacturers website but that seemed not to allow step 11 to work. I don't know if this file is cracked or suchlike.

So for anyone else trying to get this working follow the guide exactly, either on a VM or a laptop.but use the drivers from this page. The scripts work on the VM I downloaded from Volvodiags website.

Hi, I'm dealing with the same issue - "The license is invalid, please update or contact the dealer to confirm this is a valid device".

@Rawhide Could you write the exact version of VX Manager you successfully used to make your device working?
VX Manager resourced in the google docs guide seems to be pretty old (1.4.2) and in my case it doesn't offer Volvo license. It offers Passthru checkbox only.

Hi Komo, I used the version downloaded from the Google doc. The one I downloaded from the Chinese site didnt work for me. If you PM me an email I can share the file if you need but I cant imagine it would have changed. I asume you have the same tool as me?

Remove the folder, open Add/Remove, choose uninstall, and it should ask if you want to remove it from the list. The install again.
OR
Im mnot sure, but try running the SETUP on CD1, that could go over the welcome screena n start installing reagardless. Works on some games, just might work on this one.

Can I ask you to send these drivers for vx manager to the e-mail address: [email protected], because I can no longer download them from this website https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... fQTOCi3cpH BdsZa/ pub
Thank you very much

Hi my Polish friend,

If you still did not resolve that issue just connect your device, open VX manager and click on DIAGNOSTIC and install PASSTHRU (you must enable internet connection), after successfull instalation you should see VXdiag in your VIDA!

If this is not the solution that you were looking for then sorry!

Hope it helps somebody!

Does anyone have an updated link to the instructions? They don't seem to be available anymore.

Thanks

I seem to be having this exact same problem. VIDA 2014D, running on a VM, can see the VXDiag Nano just fine, it just won't read my vehicle. I know the shop, with their "official" setup, can. I'm wondering if I'm seeing the driver/license issue described here, unfortunately the Google Docs page no longer has it.
