Correct brake fluid

I noticed that the manual says dot4+ brake fluid with 536F boiling point required but it seems that it does not exist.
I already bought this Prestone Dot4 fluid with a 496F boiling point.
is this ok?

The most expensive fluid available at my local auto parts store is
Liqui Moly SL 6 DOT 4 with a higher boiling point of 514F and is low viscosity.

Should I return the fluid I already bought and get this instead?

Your Prestone should be fine to top off, if I was flushing I’d use the stuff good to 536°F.

Parts store DOT4 is what I use. If I were racing or perhaps lived in mountains, I would use the best stuff.

I ended up using this stuff from auto zone

It seems to have a higher boiling point than MoVolvo's fluid.


It was the highest boiling point fluid I could find at my local stores. Its ~515 boiling point was still lower than volvos required ~536. I'm not sure if replacing the fluid improved my braking, but it definitely didn't make it worse. I also noticed the pedal feel was a little different.

Are you using for flushing or topping? It's a lot cheaper especially when flushing the system. Not going to see any difference if topping. Have done way way too many brake jobs and the feel (poor) is mostly from dirty fluid with some air or changing to (good) stainless brake lines. The bit of difference in peak temp is negligible unless you are tracking the car and even then good driving won't overheating the system as much.
