‘07 S80 3.2 167K — Suspension Feeling a Little Floaty

First P3 we’ve owned. Bought at 125 K. Got very comprehensive service at 150K. I don’t drive it frequently. It needs brakes and I noticed the ride seemed a bit “floaty” recently. If I do a suspension refresh, what should I be looking to change? I have the non-electronic suspension.

It'd be hard to say the floaty feeling is anything but struts/shocks... just worn out.

Around 5 years ago my Son and I test drove one with100K and the owner had already changed the front units. Can't remember whether the rears were changed but the new fronts were squeaking. Best to change front and rear as the bad side will compensate / work harder for the other end when floating / bouncing.

They are similar to P1 as the strut is inserted into the steering knuckle and pitched by a single bolt rather than the standard 2 bolt strut. While you're in there check the wheel bearings, tie rods, control arm bushings and sway bar links. Replace the strut bearings and inspect the strut mount. The strut bearing looks identical to the C30 in terms of design but the strut mount is different and doesn't seem like it would easily go bad?

The control arms are also similar to the C30 except for the front bushing.
