2020 V60 CC

Post by Ashgo »

I was in my 2020 V60 CC when I was hit by another vehicle with most of the impact being taken by the wheel and left front. Surprisingly the initial estimate didn’t include suspension repairs despite the wheel being toed in. I certainly lost some faith in the estimator. ImageThe revised estimate is attached. The steering rack is not mentioned and I’m concerned it wasn’t properly assessed. Here’s a link from Volvo about these kinds of repairs file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/45/05/EB3B1192-D717-4280-B5F8-08EAC791461A/34805.pdf

Advice on how to proceed with insurance? Take to dealer when i get it back?

.
About 4 years ago I had taken our GS300 to a highly Google reviewed shop for an estimate. Although the Estimator didn't take it apart he by removing the truck mat already knew it was over $4500. The 3rd party estimator working for the insurance had been in the industry for over 25 years and gave an estimate around $2,500. Though the police report found fault with other driver for the rear end collision, their out of state fly by night insurance would pay. We never made the repairs and just drove it after pushing and pulling a few things to look for the car to look good enough to drive.

Fast forward to half a year ago the person we gave the car to got rear ended again and this time was much worst. The shop originally gave a low estimate and after taking it apart it was over $5K of work so it was totaled. Depending whether the shop wants to replace or pull out parts and whether using OE or aftermarket, the price will vary quite a bit. Take it to Volvo or a high end body for estimates and not the insurance companies. By law you can choose the shop and it's up to the shop and insurance to haggle prices and method of repair and hopefully to your satisfaction.
.
Blessings,

Ashgo - I'm confused, I see front suspension line items there.

Most insurance claims allow for cost adjustment once they have it apart and see additional damage. You could check with your agent on that as well.

And yes, YOU select the body shop.
