Accessing hose clamps for turbo vacuum hoses

I'm trying to replace the vacuum hoses connected to the turbo, but find it difficult to access the hose clamps at the turbo's end:


Is there any tricks to get to those? Special tools, access from below, or just try to work it with some pliers from above?

Are tools like this useful?

You need to remove the air intake hose (the one running from filter box to turbo).

IIRC, BMW and Volvo clamps are often 7-mm type.
So if you have a 7-mm socket, you sb fine.

Those are Spring Hose Clamps.
For the bigger hoses etc, it is often 7-mm type.

I agree, most others hoses I've tackled are 7-mm.

May I ask why you're replacing those? Many years ago I replaced them with "performance" silicone hoses, but I'm looking at old hoses I still have and there was nothing wrong with them.

One of the hoses is brittle on the other end:

I think the previous owner used a junction to replace only that end, without dealing with the hose clamp on the turbo's end.

Yeah, these ones always crack and can be replaced with silicone hoses, no problem. They are here only for EVAP system vacuum. The TCV hoses felt to me like a bit different kind of hose. More rigid, maybe different rubber compound. If you don't have problem with turbo, don't replace them.
