Similar no start situation left me stranded last week in the work parking lot. Car would turn over, no ignition. I travel with an OBD2 reader and it showed a P0340, camshaft system failure, which made me believe it was just the sensor. I wiggled the wires around, nothing happened on another turnkey. Tried to unplug the sensor (hard to get to without removing stuff on a T5) and cracked the sensor plug in the housing. One tow and rockauto camshaft sensor later, back on the road and running smoothly!
