I went to the MacDonald Volvo showroom today with my son for a party thingy to see the EX30... I didn't know if I'd get to test drive one, but it turns out no. The sample in the showroom was a pre-production piece that looked convincing to me.
Also, surprisingly, there was a pre-production EX90 in all its large(r) glory.
I sat in the EX30 and everything seemed about right, about what I'd expected. It's not big, it's not small. It not opulent, it's not barren... no wait, it is kinda barren. But I knew this to be the case. I've written at length about what I've gleaned from EX30 literature and photos.
Without further ado, here's the photos. Note: the first photos are EX90 (light grey). The EX30 is very light blue.

Yea it's a bit too "Jackson Pollack" for me, that spackle.
While I was talking to a sales rep, I asked about federal and state EV tax credits. He said state is likely to be available, $3k or so in Colorado, and federal will not be available because the cars are made in China ($7500). He said Volvo's leases have a $7500 credit spread over the lease to make up for the absence of the federal credit, so leases are the way to go for this one. That's $208 per month in your favor if it's a 3-year deal, so hey not bad.

10 MVS points for Jackson Pollack reference. (Wait…can WE give YOU MVS points?)
I love them, but wouldn’t want them in my car. The other interiors seem nicer and more friendly. Pine or Indigo maybe. The finish sample packs are pretty cool. Body panel color samples too.
If you decide against taking it, does your place in line go back into the pool, or can your B-I-L or an MVS member nab your spot?

I remember now where I have seen this spackle paint pattern. It was used in 1960s US cars on the metal trunk interiors. This was before carpet and plastic trunk liners.volvolugnut wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 17:35 Spackle paint on the interior of EX30? Never would have expected that.

I thought the new US Volvo plant was being built to make smaller cars including the EX30?? What are they building there or is it not on line yet?
Well I guess this answers the question:
