Today, soon after adding 3 gallons fuel, there was a brief "shudder" as the ABS light flashed on and then off. About 20 seconds later, while turning right, the engine quit. It simply stopped with loss of power steering and braking. Luckily I was moving slowly on a residential road without traffic or obstacles. Turning the key started the car normally and I drove the remaining 200 yards home without further incident.
When restarted the engine idles at ~1,400 rpm and never drops to ~800 rpm as normally happens soon after starting.
Fuel pump was replaced last week. Seems fine except level sensor is unstable. Plan to investigate. Suspect loose attachment to plate on left side since the fitting didn't seem to "click in" well.
I foumd these codes that are new since yesterday. I was able to clear all except CCM-0121, which I saw a short while ago but have not yet addressed. It wasn't there yesterday.
- ECM 9400 Brake pedal sensor : Signal too high
- ECM-9070 Engine control module (ECM) : Intermitent fault
- BCM-0103 Pedal position sensor; Faulty signal Intermittent fault
- BCM-0057 Power supply : Voltage too low Intermitent fault
- CCM-0121 Air quality sensor; Internal fault Permanent fault
Concerning. Safe to drive? Suggestions for an underlying cause of "spontaneous" engine failure?
Engine quit while driving! Topic is solved

I suspect you have low battery voltage that has caused a cascade of codes to show. These cars DO NOT like low battery voltage. It messes with the computers. Check your battery terminals for corrosion and tightness. Charge the battery FULLY and try a restart.

.
Check the battery for voltage issues then clean the ETM since you have an idle and pedal sensor issue.

Turns out I forgot to replace the plastic cover that shields the battery. I suspect the metal fitting at the end of the hanging strap shorted the battery. Gotta be more careful about reassembly.

You can put a check mark for problem solved so when other look for an engine quitting issue they will go to this post for the diagnostics.

Sounds like a bad PEM...they don't throw codes. Get used one from salvage and swap and see if it clears up.
