2.5T oil filter housing after issue

Post by phrequenc »

hey everyone i never thought id need to make a post on here becuase this website has been extremely helpful. but here i am asking for advice.

i recently encountered a broken oil filter housing diaphragm so i replaced the whole housing. previously it was whistling, i knew immediately it was the issue. after replacing it and starting it up test drive all was well. after about a 20m ride, the whistle came back on the new housing.

my vacuum when pulling out dipstick or taking off the oil cap is excellent.

so my question for advice i have is, where should i check next? i dont want to risk damaging the engine by continuing to drive but i have noi choice as this is my daily driver.

to add more info, it only seems to do this while the engine is HOT. when its cold or just started, it doesnt make the noise.

to verify the diagraphm wasnt the problem i removed the new one to ensure it wasnt ripped or damaged. it wasnt.

im also noticing sputtering at idle and code p2187/p0507 were coming up, i cleared them and they havent returned.but it still sputters/rough idle.

Hey! I know that I'm four years late, but did you ever find the issue? I am currently experiencing the exact same problem on my T5 2008 C70.

Since either code could be related to air leaks you can check both the PCV and vacuum lines or any air related pipes or tubes.
