Vida (clone) not reading vin

Post by BenjaminV40 »

Hey!
I'm new here! Sorry for my poor English I'm from Holland.

I've tried to install Volvo Vida 2014d and it all went well.
But when I try to read any Volvo it doesn't work.
I get a yellow message that says the vin could not be read and don't get to see any DTCs

I've worked with other universal testers on the same car.
What do I mis here? Do I have a broken dice?
Please help!!
Byee! 😊

Solution in orange box. Write VIN Manually.

I suggest using easier program than VIDA... like an android app which does not need manually enter VIN codes and transfer laptop everywhere. okay okay i am silent.

Typing the vin by hand doesn't change anything,
I don't think it has anything to do with not understanding the program. but rather a bug

I work daily with techtool from Volvo 😁

select the correct dice option in vida and try a different port on your laptop.

Are you running VIDA in a virtual machine, or locally?

If you are not using a program called virtualbox or vmware then you are probably running locally.

Go here: https://volvodiag.com/tools/ then download and install the Dice drivers

Then go here https://d5t5.com/article/generic-j2534 and install the J2534 (dice alternative) driver. Make sure you download the correct one for your windows version (32 or 64 bit.)

Once this is finished, you can restart your laptop and try again.

You can also try installing and running vdash https://d5t5.com/article/vdash-volvo-diagnostic. If that works with the cable, then something may be wrong with your installation of Vida.

You guys know VIDA has logs in C:\Vida\System\Log, right? Every error and issue is contained in there. You need to post the logs contained in there(they may contain slightly sensitive information). I've gotten this error before when the timeout set by VIDA(60ms) is exceeded).
