Not sure how helpful your local Suzuki dealer is but I’d give them a call and ask.

Apparently, it's normal for a GS500 engine. Each bike engine seems to react on its own way...
I have to be concentrated on the carburetors. Need to study the bike's notice. Bike engine is a new world for me.

Late 240 Volvo engines with over head cams used shims like this to adjust for wear of the valve system and maintain the proper lift and closed valve clearance. You bought the shim thicknesses you needed and installed to correct for wear.
I suspect, but do not know, that your motorcycle has the same system.
