Which oil to use in SW Florida

Post by dfp711 »

I live in Southwest Florida and was wondering what the best oil is for my 2010 V70 R Design. It currently has about 201,000 miles on it. Historically been using Amsoil 0W20. Should I use semi or fully synthetic oil ?

As an aside, does anyone see many 2008-2010 R Designs?

Transitioned 4 cars to Rotella T6 15W40. May go back to 5W40 during winter? 0W20 for a high mileage vehicle in FL is way too thin. Good thing Amsoil is a good oil so your engine may not be burning much oil between changes. Should go with at least a 5W-40.

12/23 - 00 S70 SE NA 151K miles. Was running Kirkland 15W40 Diesel motor oil to help with oil pan O-Ring air cavitation ticking noise.
04/25 - 02 V70 XC 83K miles. Excellent mileage and more pep. Start up has the new car exhaust smell rather then unburned fuel.
05/24 - 03 Odyssey 248K miles. Smoother, quieter with more pep. Exhaust at start up no longer strong unburn fuel. This was running Castrol 0W40 I believe but change was long overdue.
05/24 - 12 XC90 AWD 146K miles. Engine a lot quieter and smoother.
.
Blessings,
