Howdy! New member so apologies in advance. I've got a 99 c70 covertible with 165k. I've owned it for about 15 years! This week, the top motor appears to have broken on the 'right side' When you lift the little flap to manually open/close (the A side) by turning the tool one turn left or one turn right, the circular piece you insert into is no longer fully attached to the motor and appears to have lost/sheered two screws. I can't seem to turn it fully one turn to the left to unlock the latch. I spin the B tool counter clockwise and it opens about a half inch to an inch, but the latches are clearly engaged. There appears to be two torx bolts to the latch accessible when I remove the interior. Any idea if those bolts (1) do indeed hold the latch and (2) if I undue them if that will allow the latches to come off, releasing the top cover so I can access the motors?jimmy57 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2019, 19:50 OK, the coverplate looks to be down to the point the latch motor needs to operate to pull it down. The coverplate latch motor is under the other flap on the trunk top stowage well wall. You use a blade screwdriver and you do push in to disengage to motor from cables so the screwdriver will turn and move cables. You need to turn it until you hear BOTH rt and left latches click. when the coverplate latches the top module should resume operation. You will need to turn the screw driver reverse from the direction that latched the coverplate so it re-engages the cables and motor to work again.
(top is stuck in down position... great for sunny days.. notsomuch when it rains!)
