….Their key generator tool makes key directly for them from old existing key data by press of a button to new blank chip and call it the day as new working key or keys so they dont need to do OBD stuff.
Yes. This is what the locksmith did for me. He read the immobilizer module and programmed new keys to existing data
I shall put my innocent doubt with the role of instrument cluster known as too with name of CDM as it doesn't talk with IMMO. With ECM it does some functions.. but immobilizer stuff? I kindly doubt.
Thank you for the clarification. Perhaps I was thinking of Immo4/Audi/BMW

In 1999 ( build 09-1998 onwards) that combo will not work
Well i guess world first then?
Added fourth chip in memory.

Under part number year and week. 05 year and this is from C70.

P.S. just joking about world first as Volvo did license functionality for third parties too SnapTools, Autel etc... but sure you jump once again PIN code requirement if not use Vida as it gets that information automatically from Volvo Servers when you do subscription.
This is absolutely not the only way and locksmiths prefer go direct ( faster when not know PIN nor not knowing how generate keys without IMMO memory so that IMMO accepts them when doing OBD learning ) way making keys using tools to generate working key etc..

I am sorry topping up but i just figured one funny extra detail thing out and want to share.

On many IMMO3 systems ( 70 series up to 99 but C70 up to 2004 years etc). IMMO3 system will reject Key ID's which does not start with "56"
..

I thought okay well long time... but i found exactly WHY is that.. because 0x56 as hex code is a ASCII character 'V' ... I found written in Engineers writings system specs itself shortened "Check there is 'V' in Volvo Transporter".

Sounds to me like when SEGA put SEGA trademark check in their gaming cartdridges for license protections so if someone in their tried publish game without paying them and their license.. game couldn't boot up because there was no splash screen text saying "PRODUCED BY OR UNDER LICENSE FROM SEGA ENTERPRISES LTD."

Though they figured way bypass that and was in court over that.. Anyway nothing more about this.

P.S. Next App version will have Blanking VIN/Verlog from ECM via IMMO so if want sell ECM without new guy needing to do any programming example on ME7, MSA15.8, Fenix 5.1 etc.. So another car IMMO will automatically program it then as its Blanket. Just plug&play experience.

I made myself chip from blank with my own tools and did read PIN.
I do it for fun price 30eur + how many chips for people locally.

I can make chips what IMMO accepts directly or to be programmed into memory but i need still read the IMMO. Volvo only can (..for now) make ready programmable keys without taking off IMMO3 module for 40 and 70 series as they have data in their servers.
What would you need from my side to make 2 extra keys with working chip? i could ship neccessary stuff over to you and have them sent back once done :)
my car is 11/1999 v70r
1997 V70R black
1998 V70 AWD green
1999 V70R laser blue
1999 C70 AWD white
need s70r- you got one? maybe its the one i need ;)

I don't do personally mechanical keys yet but i can ask local locksmith if he is interested and has blanks and you have cut code from dealership (usually comes with PIN code for immo etc).

Plain way is to send IMMO box.. but if you have PIN code you can just send required data for me via my App and i can send you ready programmable chips which you can add in your car IMMO memory if local locksmith wants sell me cut keys which can hold chip get whole key or if you have there local locksmith to make key which can hold chip. Or which is just turn on chip aka clone of old one which all third party locksmiths does.
