Seat Connector removal

Post by rocky_mtn_man »

I fixed the won't shift out of park issue by removing the clamp for the push-button relay. After putting in a fresh tank of gas, I was
still getting check engine light warnings. O'Reilly's has a code reader and can print out a diagnosis with suggested fixes;
the first read suggested I replace the gas cap. I bought a gas cap, and filled the tank, as the car had been sitting for two years.

The check engine light came on again, and it said "air cleaner hose problem"; sure enough, the host to the air cleaner box was not
even connected, and I put a screw clamp on it. Haven't driven it much, as I learned I can't pass an emissions test if the driver door
won't open and also the window must be able to go down.

Robert has DIY videos for door panel removal, how to press on the latch to get the door to open. My door panel is loose, but
the front seat needs to come out. I have removed the four bolts holding it down, and have two of three connectors freed up now.
The last one (green) is stubborn. I tried prying on the sides with small Whia screwdrivers, but the attached photo makes me think
I should try to insert it on the top to press down on the tab holding the plug in. Will report back later if it worked.

Can you take a picture at all of the other side of the connector? I can't recall if it disconnects on the other side.

Neil.

Here is a better photo. There seems to be a metal tab on the bottom left of the connector. Otherwise all the other spaces are empty gaps.

It was just a piece of plastic peeling off. I still haven't figured out how to get this connector freed up.

There's a plastic tab on the bottom in the center. I wedge something between the connector and the metal box to get it to lift up so I can access the tab with a pair of pliers or my fingers if I can.

Here’s a photo of the connector. There is a tab on the bottom that needs to be pressed ‘up’ to release. NOT intuitive by looking at it.

Yay! The green connector came out when I pushed up the connector housing with another screwdriver, and then pushed on the tab in the center. It came right out.

The next step is to learn how to lift the power seat switch cover to access the seatbelt bolt. Robert DIY just yanked on it, but mine won't budge.

The seat is lifted. There may be retainer clips that are hard to get to when the door panel is still on the door.

There's a clip on the left end that you can't see - just pull straight up on the left end. Once free push the whole thing towards the back end and it will come off.
