For axle, search for "jimmy57" tricks.

Basically, rotate the axle shaft to see if you are lucky when the open ends of the C-clip face downward...

For me, the passenger side was the one causing vibrations, and drivers was fine. I replaced the drivers anyway since I had a new one, but it took forever (a few days) to get the drivers side axle out.

I used this thing https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and- ... 787763_0_0 which I think you already tried. I had pretty much the same problem as you, and even the axle popper was not working. After rotating the axle and trying with the popper tool many many times, it finally came loose. I guess persistence is key.

If you try again in the future I would try pushing the axle inward, lifting the car higher, and hitting the bottom of the popper tool as hard as you can with a large hammer. Anger also helps. I scratched the hell out of the transmission face, but did not have any problems.
