For instance when overtaking, the car is at a lower gear, high rpm, usually before when I let go of the gas pedal the car would upshift almost immediately. Now it takes a bit longer. For instance it likes to stay in 4th gear longer before shifting into 5th. This is not the behaviour it had just 2 or 3 months ago. Gearbox temps also rise too easily, compared to just a year ago. There is a small minuscule chance it is the work of the ETM or Accelerator pedal. The idea here is for Lubeguard to extend the life of the gearbox a bit longer.

being nervous about the tranny, if you're driving is a bit more cautious it will shift like that, mine does.
it upshifts quicker when i get aggresive on the pedal.

Define cautious :D

I would say in the past year the driving experience has worsened. If you browse through some of my very old posts, I believe I once said that I only ever felt 2-3 bump while 1-2, 4-5 were perfect. In the past year I have started feeling 1-2 bumps, 4-5 as well. These bumps occur because the TCM requests that ECM momentarily limit torque(engine power), whilst the transmission is shifting gears. The slower the process of shifting(instead of taking 500ms it say takes 2seconds) the more the bump is felt.

Usually this is because of sticky solenoids, and I am sure it is but I believe my valve body is also very worn. Even after 30l of drain and fill, the fluid is still not super clear, I believe it has very fine(very very fine) aluminum and overall metal dust from all the wear that has happened.

Despite that, whenever I did a drain and fill, the shifting was noticeably better, very soft and definitely faster with less bumps. And then progressively gets worse within a few miles. This means the gearbox is re-adapting but not in the most optimal way(speaking from my own point of view).

And I know its re-adapting because I dumped and diffed the adaptations pre-Lubeguard versus after. Last year I did a total of 10l of drain and fill all at once and the shifting was so buttery smooth for a few miles. Only then I knew what it was like to drive a nicely shifting gearbox. Alas, it re-adapts to the new oil in a worse(for me) way.

Finished the oil change saga and then swapped the summer rims/tires onto the 06 XC70 (our son's car).

I ordered a replacement Hutchison lower torque mount and some power steering fluid. I will do a drain and fill a couple of times over the next couple of weeks on his steering. In the fall there will possibly be a coolant drain and fill and a brake flush to do. I would also like to give the angle gear oil a swap as well as the car is coming up for 125,000 miles.

There is also the angle gear and RHF axle removal needing done to fit new transmission and collar seals as it has a slight weep that has been going on for about 18 months.

It also needs a lot of the suspension rust treated and painted to try to slow down the rampant rusting caused by the liquid death they spray on the roads up here in the winters.

They got a nice '04 XC70 at the wreckers yesterday so I went there to see if it had anything I could use. I opened the rear hatch and found this sitting there, 4 NOS Oak floor mats new in the unopened bag. And it had a factory trailer wiring harness I needed. Mats were $2.49 each and the harness was $5.99. I love the auto wreckers!
