Replaced my 2009 c30 auto trans shift blind. Not a fun job. The old blind was broken into pieces and the old magnet was never found. Cleaned up the broken pieces and purchased a genuine volvo blind...genuine Volvo part (made in Germany) I paid more for it to avoid a cheap Chinese part.
Took plenty of time on replacing. Positioned just as shown below (smooth side up, ribbed side down). I think the slider with the magnet can only go into the blind one way. I never disconnected the shifter top circuit board as there was room enough to simply move it out of the way. Seems to me everything was reassembled correctly. The shifter shifts smoothly, all lights on the faceplate I notice that the white shift indicator lights for illuminating for P,R,N,D, and +M- light when the key is turned on. The small red indicator lights work with P,R,N,D as selected...but there is no red indicator when shift moves to the right to select +M- (and of course no geartronic). I am wondering if the shift blind magnet may be causing this? or if it may be a bad control board? Or even if the blind magnet may be inserted in the blind body incorrectly (from the manufacturer) ...possibly reversing the magnets polarity.
I'm at a loss here... If anyone has had this issue... can you let me know what fixed it?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Though the 09 C30 shifter differs from the 12 XC90 they should basically have the same type of system for the shifter. Our C30 T5 is a M66 so guessing about your issue.
In repairing the shifter lever I became acquainted with all the parts. If the system principles are the same then here is the part that's responsible for the Geartronics. Check your wiring and cables (if any). For the XC90 once in Drive the cable doesn't move fore or aft when you slide to Geartronics so it's up to the sensors in the board. Can purchase the shifter panel with the circuit board or without. The circuit board is lengthy.
Hope I am discussing the problem you are encountering.

Thanks BKM.
Seems that purchasing the used unit from Erie may be the easiest solution. If it's a basic (and simple) bolt on unit.

**********UPDATE TO THIS POST: ***************
I notice that the white shift indicator lights for illuminate for PR,N,D, and +M- when the key is turned on. The red indicator lights work with P,R,N,D as selected...but there is no red indicator when shift moves to select +M- (and of course no geartronic). I am wondering if the shift blind magnet may be causing this or if it may the control board?

Anyone had this particular issue?

Thanks for your response once again BKM. viewtopic.php?t=98105 ...poor guy...he is in the same situation as me. He's not sure where to turn now either. But, you know, if necessary, he and I may just have to purchase that Erie Volvo parts complete (used) shifter on ebay ($95.00). The guy has several available and has sold several and guarantees they are tested. Can't beat the price. Just seems a shame to have to replace the entire shifter assembly to fix this issue. But being stubborn Polish, I will tear into the beast one more time before I have to replace the entire assembly...I'll keep you informed.

MVS member Jonesroaddid did managed to get his to work however so give it one more shot. I'm older and have always been use to trying to fix or fabricate something first rather than taking the easy and disposable way out to remedy a problem.

I think you have to turn the magnet in the new shutter blind to change +/- polarisation

Well this is a genuine Volvo part, made in Germany as a matter of fact, so I felt assured that this would be an easy install. And although you may have a very good point, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "turn the magnet" ...do you mean physically remove the magnet from it's holder and turn it 360 degrees...then reset it in it's holder? Please do explain.
