Just to check, you are not getting any oil leaks at the top of the engine at the spark plug area? Sometimes when the oil filler cap gasket leaks into this area, it eventually drains to the back where there is a drain that leaks out down the back.

If it is possibly the first 2, then I would throw in a bottle of AP-205 or Blue Devil seal conditioner and take the car for a good run. In our case it was Reno to north of Sacaramento. Most of this was done at highway speeds.

Bottom line, a good steady long run. Mileage I would suggest trying 50-100 miles and see how it goes.

Don't throw the seal conditioner in until you are ready to set off.

Good Luck!

Neil.
Top of the engine is dry and when I had the stuff out for the PCV any crud up in the top half has been dry for a long time. The wet is only down low.

How about 1134 miles on the seal conditioner?

From Albuquerque, NM 87108 to Berkeley, California via I-40 W and US-95 N.

Abscate, Hang out till I get there Friday and you can show me a few things about this wagon! I'm leaving ABQ Thrs.

1) My question was, more specifically, if longer than the 50-100 miles suggested was better or if it would be an issue leaving the AT205 in there for the longer run. Guess I'll have to find a bottle and see what it says how long it could stay in there. Interestingly it doesn't shiw the directions on the website other than mentioning to use in a ratio of 8oz to 6qt oil https://atpautomotive.com/re-seal I sent an email asking how long (miles and time) it can be left in and will let you know the official answer.

Practically, I could put in the AR205 now and get at least a couple 60 mile highway legs in.

2) how about instead of 205 using ATF.? It is supposed to have seal conditioning properties along with sludge/carbon removal characteristics which might be beneficial for old engines like mine.

I have left ATP-205 for the whole oil change interval so 1100 miles should be fine.

I vote nay on the ATF.

- Me - https://atpautomotive.com/re-seal

For the AT205, are the instructions on your website?

I'm wondering how long (miles and time) I can leave it in the oil

-them- Instructions are not on our website, I usually recommend adding AT-205 at the next scheduled oil change and just leaving it in until the next one for best results.

-me- Thanks for that. Is there any issue of adding it to existing oil?

-them- It’s not, just top off your existing oil with the AT-205

-me- Also, where can I find it locally in 87108? Thought Amazon had it but they only ship it.

-them - Most Advance Auto Parts stores keep it in stock.

Advance has it at $26.99 (called about price match to Napa with AAA. Happened to get commercial manager who said yes and that he's the only one that can charge prices. I'll go later this morning)
Napa has it at $19.99 ($17.99 with 10% discount with AAA)
Amazon $19.46

Here's where ATP stuff is carried

We left it in between oil changes. More mileage is better. My suggested mileage was more of a minimum.

Safe trip!

Went in, same guy asked how much at Napa. I said it'll end up bring 17.99 plus tax. He rang it up for $15.....it's like buying the 205 and getting a chicken shawarma pita sandwich for lunch free.... Which is exactly what I had for lunch!

🤞 For an effective $15!.... Test starts now!

If nothing else, the sandwich was good!

Can you do that with auto transmission too?
