Okay to run without the engine cover?

Is it okay to drive my 2010 C30 T5 without its plastic engine cover? Waiting on a replacement part, and might have to drive the car in the interim. All I can see that it does is to add some protection for the wiring and perhaps the timing belt, though I still have the cover in place over that. So I don't really see a problem, here, but I'm hoping someone might tell me what I'm not thinking of.

Should not be any problem at all running without the engine cover. Is only improves the engine looks and may keep water out of the coils. Some say removing them allows for the coils to run cooler.

Freak chance a chunk of gravel might get kicked up into the timing belt. I don’t have mine on.
