2001 V70 Passenger front window switch

My 2001 V7 has a bad passenger front window switch module. I know it can't be repaired because an earlier attempt damaged the circuit board.
The drivers switch will operate the passenger window and I have done this for years. My passenger is complaining.
A new switch is available from FCP (30658117) for $520.

Will the new switch module link to the driver side module and operate? I tried a used switch module with no luck. No response at all.

I will try asking my Volvo mechanic friend if he knows the answer to this. It is possible, but if the driver's side does not need recoded, why would the passenger side? I'll ask anyway.

I'm assuming you have checked the wiring from the switch to the motor. Does the wiring for the driver's door switch run to the passenger switch and then to the door motor or does it go directly?

I've e-mailed a friend at the local dealer who is a former master tech. It may take a day to get an answer.

Neil, thanks for checking for me. I don't remember why I tried to disassemble the PS switch years ago. But I am sure I destroyed the electronic circuit board.

I got a quick response! Must be the end of the day.

So the answer is they are coded using Vadis/Vida. This is his note:

P2 ’01 V70 are door modules. DDM or PDM that require programming. We used to program them with VADIS…now VIDA.

set the passenger window up on its own 12v power feed on 5 a fused wire, you will lose driver side control but so what.
i would use one of the rear seat controls, or JY the part.
i'm not sure how calibration is affected but its cheap enough to try.

I find the statements made by the purported expert to be suspect.

I had a random bozo dent-and-run a rear passenger side door on my 2004 v70, and I found a matching door in perfect shape at a junkyard, and swapped the entire door, cheaper than bodywork. I left the door module in the door, did not swap in the one from the original damaged door. Worked perfectly from the start. Now, perhaps rear doors are not as smart as front doors, but everything worked fine for me.

All I did was replace the interior panel as my interior was in far better shape than the junkyard door's interior panel. But that's just plastic.

I think I need FCP ID 228969 at $550. $40 would be great. Got a part number?
