And any tips on what to use to reattach the "leather", which is a little separated around the door handle?

Parts of both my 00 S70 SE Base front door cards are separate like those pictured by OP wrybread. Haven't had time and now on hold as the suspension is damaged from a black ice slide. I just put some black Gorilla duct tape on the very bottom edge of the door card and door frame. Surprisingly held up in everyday use without any noise or rattles or it flops open at the bottom when in use .

Thanks for the tips. Already ordered some 3M hi strength 90 just before I saw your post. I may pick up some of the gorilla also at the local Lowe’s and try on a different door to compare. Doubt I’ll have the car long enough for a real long term test so who knows. Thanks again.

From the experience with the Gorilla I think it should hold up for quite sometime as it doesn't get direct sunlight though the car interior can get pretty hot during the summers here in NC.

Thats my concern. And I am also in NC. I looked up some avg interior car temps and compared to what these adhesive can operate at. Couldnt find anything on the Gorilla spray but the construction liquid nails fuze max excides that. I think it will be fine. I have ceramic tinted windows as well so that also cuts down on the temps inside the car.

This is what I've used over the past year and it's held up so far. Brushed it on, clamped it with shims overnight.

From the color and texture of the door panels it looks like the original glue was also some kind of Contact Cement. I think they all are about the same unless it's label for some extreme or special application.

But Volvos glue is a two part pumpkin / tofu based adhesive. Can't get that around here.
