Trans sat in second randomly Auto | Unknown how to replicate | P2 S60 2.5T

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to leave a log here incase this requires more research. After a 200km drive and 5 minutes from home, my car was driving fine and i accelerated to 60kmh and then coasted down to 40kmh. What was interesting is i didnt feel the shift and my car was revving high. I put it in manual mode and noted that i could not shift out of second gear to 3rd or to first. I parked the car with it on and could not shift out of second after putting it into park. It was able to shift into park, but when put into drive it would sit in second. Turned the car off and on and all normal operations resumed.

Car was not run low on battery, has had a trans flush 27k km ago and an oil change 2k km ago. It shifts the smoothest out of any of the cars i own and had oem aisin fluid. What surprised me is that normal operations resumed when i restarted the car. I know the electronic can get quirky on these cars but i have never had this issue before.

I have a few long drives ahead of me so ill see how it runs. Will only update the thread if the issue persists

mine does similar,
going up a steep hill in 2nd but at the crest of the hill it doesn't shift into 3rd when i ease off the gas, it decelerates in 2nd.
i think its just a volvo quirk.

My first suspect is the PNP switch which dictates which hydraulic position the shifter is in.
