Long time lurker here. For reference my car is a 2004 V70 2.4i FWD with STC. 3 years of ongoing "Brake Failure Stop Safely" no traction control, no cruise control, stuck odometer. After sifting through a lot of posts regarding the bcm in p2 cars, I wanted to clarify for those seeking answers, that it is possible to find and swap a matching bcm without programming.
After a failed attempt with an eBay bcm, I got very lucky at my local pick n pull with a donor car bcm that matched my model year ( 2004 ), paint code ( probably not relevant ), and STC. Worth noting it came off a turbocharged car, mine is NA. $80 spent and can confidently say it resolved my issue. It was in fact plug and play and saved me the money of having to send mine off to xemodex.
I understand luck was on my side here but for those on a budget, with patience, and willing to look for a match - its worth a shot!
