You mean the Triumph V8? I never knew why they didn't just use the Rover engine. That Triumph V8 was two Triumph fours joined in a V, and the worst thing was it had multiple 90 degree oil paths through the crankshaft, and the crank bearings never got enough oil.

The TR8 was the Rover block, correct?

Yes, a few TR7s and the TR8 used the aluminum GM engine; I no longer remember which one, one of the three versions used a different head - Pontiac maybe ? The Buick application was turbocharged, maintenance was...an issue.
As I recall the Stag was drawn up before they struck the deal with GM, and then the labo(u)r Unpleasantness erupted.

TR7's used 4 cylinder engines, TR8 was the V8 Rover engine version of the TR7. Mostly sold in the US.

"Have a 1991 940se with about 62,000 miles. Excellent condition had it shipped washington state and wnated for a second car but I don't fit in it. It is in great condition and clean North Carolina title. A limited run 940, the 940 SE, was available in 1991 and 1992. This was really a 960 Turbo with a B230FT. Volvo wanted to keep the "four-cylinder 940" association and badged it as a 940. Like other 960s, this car had somewhat different styling, better standard and optional equipment than the 940s (like leather seats and a moonroof), and an independent rear suspension."

Real problem on 7/900 cars, especially with a sunroof. Individuals with tall torsos will have issues with headroom. I’m 6’3” and my head comes pretty close
