Source for 940 Overdrive Solenoid? 1993 940 Turbo Wagon

Post by Eddystone »

Hi,

1993 940 Turbo Wagon

I don't need to discuss whether or not my overdrive solenoid is bad. I've had it disabled for a long time so that OD is always available. Now I am thinking of fixing it so that I can tow again without OD.

Just assuming my solenoid is bad, is there anyplace where you can buy one of these new regardless of price or source?

I can't find these anywhere on the net, but I assume that since the AW71 was widely used in other cars they should be available. Maybe for a Toyota or something.

Thanks for any advice.

All U.S. market models.
All running and on the road.
PM me if you are in Ohio. I'm in Lorain.

IPDUSA has new aftermarket overdrive solenoids for sale periodically. I just bought one today (9/19/24 - 9 months after your post). It's a hit and miss deal - you have to keep checking back. Two weeks ago, they were out of stock. Today, they had 2. I bought one. I know a lot of folks swear by the cost savings and effectiveness of the bypass kit, but I want full functionality. It was $107+ tax/cheap shipping. IDPUSA has been a reliable source for me in the past.
