Steering rack clunk 2013 Volvo xc60

Recently had the strut assembly replaced at the dealer and asked them to look around for anything suspect or needing replacement and it came back clean. Unfortunately the clunking noise is till there and after some research I'm thinking there probably is an issue with the cap on the steering rack that holds tension.

I'm not 100% sure it's the problem but it seems likely. I couldn't slide my body underneath there to get a look and see if that cap is reachable, might have to get some ramps.

Anyone of you have experience getting underneath the vehicle and accessing it/repairing it? I'd rather do that than pay another 3 grand at the dealer. Also, how immediate is the concern? Because the clunking noise is pronounced and I'm not trying to break down on the highway.

IF the clunking started immediately after the strut replacement I would take it back to the dealer. In almost 100% of the time if an issue was not there before they worked on the car, it is something they did or did not do during the repair that has caused the issue. One of the things that can cause this is mechanics using impact guns removing sway-bar end-links. Doing this without counter-holding the ball shaft melts the inside cup of the end-link making them clunk under load.
