2006 S60 Right fore jack point deformed...

Post by cn90 »

Idk what happened with the previous ownwer but this is what I inherit.
Somehow the fore jack point on the right side was deformed (how did that happen?)...
I put a plastic bottle cap there as a reminder not to use it.

- Does anyone know what caused it to deformed?
I don't see much rust around it.

- Using the factory jack (on the road, not at home bc I have a floor jack at home), where can I place it to
let's say replace the RF tire?

It is hard to see the jacking bracket in your photo. I can only guess two causes of damage.
1. Contact with a road object to bend the bracket.
2. Damage to the bracket when the jack slipped when supporting the car. If the jack slipped sideways it would twist or fold the bracket.

Best to keep a small jack that comes in a case if you foresee using it on the road. Haven't ever changed a flat while on the road. I've never used the AAA Road Service in the 35 years for a tire issue while on the road. Best to add towing to your insurance policy in case you get a flat. I won't let my family use a donut unless it's the last resort as they are usually old, even the boys who are car knowledgeable. Every driver has the AAA 200 mile tow since they are out of State going to college. Have used it 3 times in the last 2 to 3 years for a 140 miles tow one way.

Something like this will work well under the sub-frame bracket for lifting. Time is of the essence if you are stuck needing to change a tire.
