Door speakers Volvo 850 1992

Post by JoachimStorbukt »

Hello! I am having problems finding the wires for the door speakers that connect to the head unit. My 850 did not come with door speakers from the factory but the wires are there for me to connect a speaker, the problem I am having is that the wires are not getting any power. So I figured that there must be a connector that has not been plugged in. I have been trying to locate the wires with no luck, and I really don’t want to remove the dashboard to find it😅 does someone know where it might be located?

Welcome to MVS!

Look at the wire colors coming off the back of the radio wire harness. Do those wire colors go to the doors? That's where I'd start.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Thank you😁

The wires in the left door are Green white and green brown, the right door is red white and res black. The connector in the HU has a male connector attached with purple, green, grey and white wires, but this connector has no female connector attached. So i believe this needs to be connected to a female for the door speakers to work. There seems to be no wires from the door that connects to that HU

There are normally 2 rectangular connectors on the back of the Volvo radio unit. I'll assume you don't have the amplifier option (if it has one it is hidden behind the radio.

The 2 rectangular connectors hold the speaker and power wires to/from the radio as well as the lighting wire for the front of the radio and if a sedan, the power connection for the rear antenna.

You should also have a single round pin for the antenna the plugs in near the bottom of the rear of the radio.
