And two rubber diaphragms (in compressor bypass valve and wastegate actuator). And pretty much can guarantee, cast iron part of turbo has cracks. I've seen old 3 turbos (around 170-220k), all had cracks.erikv11 wrote: ↑03 Oct 2024, 13:49 Issues with the turbo itself are extraordinarily rare. Main things are (1) use good oil see vtl's post and (2) be sure to keep on top of PCV maintenance and (3) be prepared to replace the large diameter rubber intercooler hoses about 180k miles when the hoses start turning to mush. Oh and there are several extra vacuum lines, be on the lookout for older, failing, decayed rubber vacuum lines.

Good point, I remember the days most P80 cars had leaky CBV diaphragms, I suppose we are getting there for the P2 cars now, too.

Any info post on the rubber diaphragms? The XC70 has had a vacuum leak for 3 years and it sounds like somewhere near the turbo.

Two turbos, two NAs.
Very little maintenance difference. 5k oil changes, synthetic Castrol
The T5 has the highway boost
The S70 LPT has it all off the line.
The 2 NAs sneer at the turbos as they pass them at the fuel pump, getting > 30 mpg
I can just get to 29 mpg on the T5 if I keep the speed at 55 and no boost

I get 14 MPG in summer. Healthy 1 MPG more than in a pickup truck.abscate wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 03:32 Two turbos, two NAs.
